Glass of Zodiac

This piece is a sandblast engraving of the twelve signs of the zodiac on Japanese cased glass. The twelve signs of the zodiac originated in Mesopotamia in ancient times, and have been introduced to Sumer, Babylonia, Greece, and many other places and times. It is also the origin of astrology (Western astrology), which is now used in morning TV programs. These constellations are carved into the lapis lazuli and orange glass. The sides are engraved with the twelve constellations, their names, corresponding calendars, and symbols. A grid pattern is placed on the bottom of the sides, giving the glass a kaleidoscope-like appearance when viewed from above. The bottom is engraved with a design featuring the sun and the moon. As shown in the last image, the glass material has a lapis lazuli layer with some shading (there is also a slight orange layer). It is not possible to specify the color trend. If you send us a message when ordering, we will try to select a color that meets your wishes to some extent, but please understand that we may not always be able to meet your expectations. Point Cased glass refers to glass that is layered with different colored glass. By cutting away only the colored layers, various patterns and gradations are created. This also produces steps in accordance with the changes in color, which gives the glass a unique feel. There may be color shading, bubbles, and mottling, but these are specifications of the glass manufacturing process. They do not affect the use of the product. When washing, please avoid using a dishwasher or other high-temperature machine, and use a soft sponge to gently rinse with water. The size may vary slightly due to the manufacturing process of the glass material. The brightness of the product images may have been corrected to improve legibility.
