Chopstick rests have long been a favorite part of the dining experience in Japan and play an important role in table etiquette, allowing diners to keep the tips of their chopsticks clean and elevated from the table. Also known as ‘chopstick pillows’, they allow us to rest our chopsticks throughout the meal. We designed this Pillow Rest in honor of that tradition, allowing us all to give our chopsticks the rest they deserve.
This Pillow Rest and Chopsticks Set includes two Pillow Rests and two pairs of chopsticks from Japan’s city of chopsticks, Wakasa, Fukui Prefecture. Their octagonal shape reflects the Japanese reverence for the auspicious number 8 which resembles the universal symbol for eternity.
**Used together, **your new chopsticks and butterfly rest will seem as if this symbol of happiness has come to life only to perch delicately upon a twig, for you to admire.

**Instructions for Use**
Chopstick rests
・Please wash thoroughly before use.
・Wash with a soft cloth or sponge using a dishwashing detergent that has been diluted in lukewarm water.
・Please use with care as sudden changes in temperature may cause the rests to crack.
・Please refrain from sliding this rest over table surfaces as it may cause scratches.
Chopsticks
・Please wash with hot or cold water after every use, and dry with a soft cloth.
・Please keep out of direct sunlight, as this may cause changes in the color and / or shape.
・Although these chopsticks have been sealed with a thin urethane coating, please refrain from soaking these chopsticks in water for prolonged periods of time. As well, do not scrub or polish these chopsticks with a scrubbing brush.
