This hand-bound lined journals are made with link-stitch binding technique, with exposed spine binding.
Every book is sewn using high quality waxed linen thread that matches the color of the inside covers (blue for A5 size, orange for a6 size notebooks).
The cover is made from unbleached binder's board covered in organic hand-dyed Hmong hill-tribe cotton fabric.
We made these journals in A5 and a smaller A6 size. Size A5 notebooks come in 4 different colors/patterns, all typical of Northern Thai Hmong hill-tribe ethnic textiles.

Hmong people are one of the sub-groups of the bigger Miao ethnicity in China. They have in time mostly settled in Burma, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. Their vibrant textile art is among the most colorful in all of South East Asia. Traditionally, women produced complex textiles as a sign of clan identity and cultural values. Different sub-groups thus create different patterns, colors and techniques. Indigo batik is among the most popular textile arts among the Blue or Green Hmong groups, but there are numerous other patterns, designed with traditionally geometric, abstract forms that the Hmong pass on as a shared visual language within, until relatively recently, oral culture.Manufacturing location(s)/process(es)Lamphun, Thailand
