The constantly changing and flowing of water somehow inspires a sense and feeling of life.
There is a word "tayutau" in old Japanese language, that refers to something that is moving or swaying, changing.
The word, we realize, is not just about the movement itself
but how it mesmerizes the onlooker, triggering a peculiar situation, sensibility and even emotions.
Monocircus’ works are sometimes figurative and other times, takes the form of abstract shapes.
The word “tayutau” was discovered when reading a biology book that questions the meaning of life.
And the word inspired the creation of this work.
In the making of Rivulet, we are hoping to capture the meaning of this word "tayutau"
and translating that essence of ‘changing, moving and flowing’ into a shape and structure.
3D model design work on the computer is mechanical and has a process that is calculated and structured,
which makes it very difficult to approach the making of such a work with a complex composition that requires sensibility and ‘touch’.
With the new 3D modeling technique that we started using recently,
we are able to create shapes and forms just like sculpting clay, in a virtual reality environment.
This work is created with such a technology and
we hope you will appreciate the freedom of ‘flow’ and sensibility and expressiveness of its form as much as we do.
