This wheel-thrown vase was made out of local Taiwanese clay and then a traditional Japanese shino glaze was applied.
This vase was made in the wabi sabi spirit of beauty in the imperfection. I made this vase quite freely and with a degree of spontaneity.
While wet I dusted wood ash, which resulted in its own glaze.
I can see this vase sitting on a dinner table or on an office desk used to calm the senses.
An interesting feature of the vase is that on the base, I stamped the map of Taiwan, my home for the past 21 years.
Be the owner of a handmade vase, made on the beautiful island of Taiwan.
