This chawan was wheel thrown from my small rooftop studio where I am now writing this description. I look out at the Yamingshan mountains and draw in a breath.
This tea bowl was made from Japanese porcelain clay. I painted glaze on this piece. I also dusted wood ash over sections. The pot is unique as the glaze application was varied. The inside is glossy but the outside is a combination of matte and slightly 'rough'.
While still wet I hand altered the shape, providing a more comfortable drinking experience.
My seal is stamped at the base of the pot near the trimmed foot ring.
I make pottery to hopefully add pleasure to someone's daily life. That is the feeling that motivated me to create functional items out of clay.
