Hydrangeas (“Ajisai”, in Japanese) are popular ornamental plants, grown for their large flowerheads. They are native to southern and eastern Asia, and the Americas, with the greatest species diversity in eastern Asia. Commonly seen in shades of pink, blue, purple, and green, the Atelier Shinji Hydrangea series is an ode to the purple variety, featuring small purple Amethyst stones (also can be made with white fresh water pearls instead of Amethyst as a special order). The subtle cotton-like texture and matt finish gives this series a unique warmth and contemporary quality.
The front part of the necklace comprises a cluster of flowers as moving parts. The remainder of the necklace is a large link chain, which can be closed by the clasp at any point, making it versatile. A small flower at the end of the chain completes the necklace.
