We started production as the fourth design of rock glass.
In the initial concept, I was thinking of cutting an inexpensive design in which vertical lines were alternately inserted from the top and bottom, but it was based on the idea of gradually expanding the lines.
The image at this time wanted to express the feeling that light shines through the clouds and spreads.
The base is designed with a wide upper line, so the product name was "Koukou Rock Glass".
Divide the whole into 32 equal parts and reduce the slope each time you go to the next line.
・ X = 0
・ Y = 4X
・ Y = 3X
・ Y = 2X
・ Y = X
・ Y = 1 / 2X
I tried to cut it with a prototype.
The result was messed up at the bottom.
That should be that, because the angle of each line is slightly different, it was difficult to pass through the same intersection, and each line passed over each line in a mess.
This is a failure as a design, but the idea of gradually angling each line is interesting, but it means that we have to abandon the design from the ground up.
I pondered how I couldn't make it look good.
Looking at the prototype in the photo above,
"A line that intersects with other lines fairly neatly"
It turned out that there is a "line that does not intersect the other lines neatly".
Therefore, I decided to cut the lines that intersect with other lines in advance, and adjust the lines that do not intersect with other lines to make them look beautiful.
It is not possible to cut cleanly unless you carefully identify which line intersects with other lines and also consider the order of cutting all lines.
At this point, I had a flat tire in my head and said, "This design is impossible!" And unintentionally lay down on the ground in a big letter and was knocked out.
After all, I thought I'd give up on this design, but I wrote down various things on paper and organized my mind in my own way.
Therefore, this product was cut while organizing my head according to this memo.
All the messy lines of the prototype fit nicely together, and the design is very good.
The bottom is divided into 16 equal parts, but the 12 lines are directly connected to the side cuts.
When the bottom line and the side line are connected, you can feel the sense of unity of the design when looking from above, and you can feel the overwhelming beauty than the faceted design that separates the bottom and side designs.
Beautiful and well-designed facets
・ Things that you cannot understand what kind of structure they are made at the moment you see them
・ The whole is composed as one
I think there is a requirement for.
In fact, the light-falling rock glass is a masterpiece with a design that meets that requirement.
Our workshop's Kiriko has a lot of unique and interesting designs, but it is probably one of the best.
Nevertheless, we have succeeded in keeping the price lower than other rock glass works, so please consider it.
The Kiriko of our workshop is polished using the traditional method of Edo Kiriko, "hand polishing", which maintains the strength of the glass and finishes it with high quality.
On the other hand, there are some things in the world that polish the glass while immersing it in an acid called "acid polishing" and melting the entire glass into pieces.
Acid-polished ones have the disadvantages of being easily scratched and the color may fade, but since the man-hours can be reduced and the price can be sold at a low price, sales will improve, so many workshops and writers perform acid-polishing. We are here.
