The glazes at Mardai Kiln are made from a formula that has been handed down for generations using materials that are close at hand.
In particular, the straw white glaze used for this vessel is made from straw ashes, so we burn the straw ourselves to make the glaze material.
The rim of the bowl is slightly warped inward so that the rice can be spooned cleanly to the end.
When I was raising my own children and feeding them baby food for the first time, I noticed the importance of the warped rim of the bowl, and this inspired me to make the curry dish.
