The tea bowl was wheel thrown in my small pottery workshop in Taipei, Taiwan.
I work from my rooftop apartment that overlooks the Yamingshan mountains. They are a constant source of inspiration.
This chawan was made from local Taiwanese clay and then a black glaze was applied. I also dusted wood ash over the pot which turned into an amber glaze during the firing.
A special feature on the bowl is the yellow 'moon'. I also hand altered the bowl while wet to add some interest in the form of sliced marks. I believe a good tea bowl tells a story. This one can be interpreted by the user.
I love making tea bowls as each is unique and original - just like us.
