This wheel thrown vase was made in my small pottery workshop here in Taiwan. My workshop over looks the Yamingshan mountain which are a constant source of inspiration.
This pot was made from local Taiwanese clay and then an original glaze was applied down one side. I left the other areas of the vase unglazed to see what the natural wood ash from the firing would do. The contrast is a beautiful one.
While the clay was still wet I used a metal tool to create some lines of interest. I believe handmade pot should see evidence of the hand involved.
My seal is stamped at the base of this vase.
