Stone(malachite) is a green monoclinic mineral and the most common copper secondary mineral.
The name Stone comes from the striped pattern of aggregates of microcrystals that resembles the pattern of peacock feathers.
The word malachite comes from the Greek word for the leaves of the plant malachite.
Stone was already used as a Gemstone in Egypt around 2000 BC, and Cleopatra is said to have used it as a pigment (eyeshadow). The Egyptians of the time combined it with lapis lazuli (blue) and carnelian (red), and used it for accessories that represented a particular symbol.
