【限量手工作品集】City Doll Series 城市人偶系列 2018-2023

作品纪录艺术家曾嬿圩2018-2023年间，参与艺术驻村与双年展时创作的“城市人偶系列 City Doll Series”，从140件人偶中精选20件作代表，中英双语限量出版30本。 人偶灵感来自各地文化中的人物之鲜明性格；她自创的手工缠绕技术，雕塑人物的戏剧张力，人偶媒材特别挑选当地的旧衣废布，企图从使用过的衣物布料背后，挖掘属于在地的故事。艺术家透过交流中看到、遇到、听到的人事物，缠绕一个又一个的人偶，包裹了当地的集体记忆与个人的旅居回忆，也从旧衣废布中记录下当地的品味。 由于当代的印刷设备进步，布料印刷可以接受更广泛的布面质感，以及提升印刷清晰度。人偶来自旧衣废布，再度回归到布料本身；除了布面印刷，同时手工缝线与手工编绳，制作横式卷轴的作品集，成为“艺术家的书”。作品集翻轴时，每一件人偶伴随当地区域的地图，逐渐出现，如同旅途中，利用GPS找地点与位置，而当时遇到或认识的人事物，皆可能串联下一个人事物，或是下一次的旅程，没有一定的先后顺序，皆以观者的主观意识为准，如同艺术家的全球纺织艺术之旅；最后，作品集完整打开后，随着红色缝线，所有人偶同时登场，其故事篇章收录在纸质折页。 Tseng Yen-Yu, a documentary work artist created “City Doll Series” during her art-in-residency and biennial exhibition from 2018 to 2023. Now she selects 20 remarkable works from her 140 dolls, and publishes 30 limited books in Mandarin and English. The figure dolls were inspired by the distinctive personality from the people all over the world. She shapes the dramatic tension of the figure via her hand-made wrapping technique, and collects the old clothe and waste textile from the local as the materials for the figure dolls. Tseng attempts to discover the local stories via the used cloth and fabric. Through the connection with the local people, she winds the figure dolls with who she meets, what she sees and hears. Wrapping the collective memories from the locals and her journey memories, the cloth and fabric records the sense of the present moment. Since the contemporary print equipment has became increasingly advance, the fabric print can accommodate a wider range of fabric textures and enhance printing clarity. The figure dolls was made by the cloth and fabric, and has became to the fabric again. Apart from fabric printing, Tseng makes the portfolio with the horizontal scroll by hand-sewing thread and hand-twisting rope. While the portfolio was unfolded, every figure doll was showed one by one with the map of the local area. The experience is just like using the GPS to searching the location. This is her creation on the form of book as the Artist's Books. The people and things Tseng met might connect to the next ones or the next journey. Without the order of sequence, all was decided by the observer’s subjective consciousness Tseng's Journey of Global Textile Art. Eventually, the portfolio was fully opened with the red rope. All the figure dolls appearing simultaneously and the stories was included in the folded leaflet. 【关于曾嬿圩 TSENG Yen-Yu】 艺术家曾嬿圩的作品从2014起，即受邀世界各地的国际纺织艺术双年展，包含美国、法国、俄国、意大利、立陶宛等共16国；并曾在台湾、加拿大和拉脱维亚等地区从事专业艺术的驻村创作。 她发展出独特的创作手法，结合了纺织、雕塑和偶戏的艺术表现。创作时，利用细细的缝线，形塑不同材质的旧衣物，创造人形与环形的立体表现。在物件情绪的氛围中，暗示人类社会与自然环境之间的相互关系。旧衣废布和在地纤维的材料，作为其地理的座标和历史的延伸，也反映了文化风格和环境循环。它成为一种体验、交流和思考的方式，与环境之间创建联系，并将记忆、历史和讲故事的概念结合在一起。 TSENG Yen-Yu is a Taiwanese artist with a MFA degree. Who uses old garments and waste textile by observation and experiment, for wrapping works as her own textile technique of deconstruction and re-assemblage. This is an unique way she created to sculpture fabrics as her style, especially after the trend of industrialization and globalization. She expresses objects and stories to reflect who she is and what surrounds her, as the interrelationship between human society and natural environment.
