Shitamachi Lab's tiny wooden sculptures -wooden acorns- are designed and created to be "Art piece to carry around". Using arranged Japanese traditional wood lathe techniques, each and every items you see here is all-handmade. More than ten types of woods are used for our wooden acorn. We make many combinations of woods to enjoy pure color of woods and texture, and so it makes our acorns so unique. Tiny tiny acorns, 3.5cm (approx. 1.4inch) long, are carved and finished by artist's hand. As they are such small sculpture, its weight is so light that you might forget waring it, even most of them are made of hard and heavy woods. The body and the cap are strongly connected with tenon. You can ware them either everyday of special occasions. We selected one from unique wooden acorns, and arrange it to one-of-a-kind accessory. No.020 is NETSUKE with our original wooden mosaic, with Chestnut and Padouk. One of the most well-selling items in the selling events. We chose Yellow-green strap which matches well with warm yellow-green colored silk strap. NETSUKE: Japanese traditional accessory for mainly man with KIMONO, to hook a small bag on the belt. Our NETSUKE is smaller then traditional type. You can use it freely.
