Shino tea bowl

This wheel thrown tea bowl was made in my small pottery workshop here in Taiwan. My workshop overlooks the Yamingshan mountain which is a constant source of inspiration. This pot was made from a red clay body and then a traditional Japanese glaze called shino was applied. A shino is typically a warm orange/white color. While the clay was still wet I used a metal tool to create some lines of interest. I also added some iron brush strokes. I believe handmade pot should see evidence of the hand involved.
