Wood fired vase

This vase was wheel thrown from my small rooftop studio where I am now writing this description. I look out at the Yamingshan mountains and draw in a breath. This vase was made from Japanese porcelain clay and then an original glaze was applied. I glazed sections of the vase and left some sections open to the wood ash. This vase was wood-fired for 4 days. Wood firing is very unpredictable as the wood ash settles on the pot in random ways. The beauty of this firing is that your pots will be original and unique, not able to be reproduced. All my glazes are food-safe. My seal is stamped at the base of the vase near the trimmed foot ring. I make pottery to hopefully add pleasure to someone's daily life.
