【望郷の丘】
東京都の東村山市にある国立療養所の多磨全生園にある人工で作られた丘。
終生隔離されているからこそ故郷を想う気持ちは強かった。患者達の手により高台の丘を作り、そこから療養所の外を遠く眺めて故郷を想った。故郷に帰りたくても帰れず療養所で生涯を終える入所者がほとんどだった。
遺骨は園内の納骨堂に収められ、死んでも故郷に帰れない遺骨は６割を超える。
[The hill recalling hometown]
The hill is located in Tamazensyouen as the National nursing home at Higashimurayama-city, Tokyo. People had strong feeling that missed their hometown because they had been excluded from other communities. People who live at the nursing home built hill, which is called “Boukyou no Oka” that tried to recall their old memories for hometown staring outside of nursing home.
Most of people ended up their life in the nursing home and were not able to go back to home. Their remains were laid to rest in remains center in the nursing home area and 60% of remains could not be returning back to home after people passed away.
